Wise(ish) Words for the New Year.

*written in 2018, but feels weirdly relevant now. It’s been quite some time since I’ve written on here, but it’s also been quite a year. Personally, this year was a huge puzzle and words were the pieces. *Fair warning, this may not be super relatable to you, but I think I needed to write it. I’m realizing lately how weighty words are. Not just in their meaning, but physically. From an emotional standpoint, I’ve always been familiar with the weight and will that words hold and the ability they have to move and shake a heart. But it hasn’t been…

    Tell them who you are.

I started this blog two years ago today. And I used to wonder what sparked it. Sure, it was a ‘creative outlet.’ But it ended up being so much more. Now I realize—I just granted myself permission. Permission to feel exactly how I feel. To have the guts to sit with those feelings, and tell them that they’ve been felt. What a wild gift we have to choose in favor of a healthy heart. That feels, that loves and that aches—but does not choose to stay there. When you choose to write your life into a public display of lessons…

    Goodbye Tokyo

One week ago I said goodbye to Tokyo… And I was more emotion than human. After spending three months in this place, I can honestly say I wouldn’t change a thing, not even the messy parts. Exploring a new place is like a book. We get out of it what we desire to get. The book itself isn’t going to change. The words don’t magically reshuffle themselves to our liking. We interpret the story a certain way depending upon the state of our heart. I found many things in the storied city of Tokyo. A magnetic contentment. A contagious outlook.…

    Gone MIA

It’s been a hot minute since I posted on here, but here’s why I’ve gone MIA…because I’ve literally gone to MIA. I recently made the move to Miami and couldn’t be happier. In the beginning of July I packed up and started school. SCHOOL, AGAIN?! I know I know, if you would’ve asked me a year ago to go back to school, I would’ve looked at you, laughed, and then maybe thrown a bunch of sharpened pencils at you. But I am going back to school again, for the third time, and embarking on a whole new career path. I’m going…

17 New Year’s Resolutions that Will Inspire Change in Your Life

I have always had a love/hate relationship with New Year’s resolutions. January always seemed to carry so much energy and promise, yet I always found myself feeling a bit stumped. Mostly because I always felt my New Year’s resolutions were basically meaningless commitments I was forced to make as the clock struck twelve and champagne glasses clinked. Work out more. Find love. Find a job. But the truth is, you don’t have to wait until the 1st of January to turn over a new leaf. If anything, January 1st can be a benchmark date to check in on your progress. You can start to make positive changes in your life…
